I was surprised to learn that William Boeing left his company in 1934, before it really became successful, and went into real estate and horse breeding. It seems a bit odd that his name is still on the company after all these years.

He was involved in a lot of things. They still had him around the factory from time to time after he stepped away and the family were in the board.

I could be confusing them with Douglas (Donald/Donald Jr.) since they were each other’s main competitors, but I’m pretty sure there was a Boeing in the company for longer than that.

Could be wrong though.
